What app can replace doomscrolling with learning?
Loorio is an app that replaces doomscrolling with learning. It keeps the habit you already have, swiping through a full-screen feed, and changes what is in it: short videos of 3 minutes or less, starting with SAT prep, with quick questions after them. It is free, and every swipe teaches you something.

Who it is for
Anyone who picks up their phone out of habit and puts it down feeling worse.
Students who lose study time to feeds and want some of that time back.
People who tried blocking apps, found the urge to scroll was still there, and went back.
How the habit swap works
Swap the app, not the habit
Put Loorio where your feed app used to sit on your home screen. Your thumb goes to the same place.
Swipe the way you always do
The feed looks and moves like the ones you know. Every video teaches something in 3 minutes or less.
Answer when a question comes up
A quick question after a video turns watching into remembering. You can always skip it.
Come back tomorrow
Videos you have answered return after 1, 3 and 7 days, so the scroll adds up instead of disappearing.
Three ways to deal with doomscrolling
| Feature | Loorio | Social media feeds | Screen-time limits and blockers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keeps the scroll habit | Yes | Yes | No, it takes it away |
| Every video teaches something | Yes | No | Nothing to watch |
| Checks what you remember | Quick questions and spaced review | No | No |
| Price | Free | Free | Free built-in settings, or paid apps |
A comparison of approaches rather than of specific products. Limits and Loorio work well together.
Common questions
Does switching apps actually help with doomscrolling?
It works with the habit instead of against it. You still get the swipe, but what you take away is something you can recall later. Combine it with whatever limits already work for you.
Won't I just scroll Loorio for hours instead?
Videos are short and come with questions, so Loorio asks a little more of you than a passive feed. If you want a hard stop, your phone's screen-time settings work with Loorio too.
What will I learn?
Right now Loorio is focused on the SAT, with videos for SAT Math and for Reading & Writing.
Is Loorio free?
Yes. Downloading Loorio and watching is free. We'll be upfront here and in the app if that ever changes.
Is it safe for teenagers?
Loorio is for 13 and up. Messages can only carry a video, a duel or a pact invite with a short note, so there's no open chat. Every upload is checked before it goes live, and you can report or block anyone.
Try Loorio free.
Download it on iOS or Android, or watch on the web.
